Maya Angelou is a poet who represents the idea of a strong woman. Angelou was born on April 4, 1928 in St. Louis Missouri. However, at seven she was sent to live with her nanna in Stamps, Arkansas. Angelous grandmother owned a humbled grocery store in a racist fusion in the south. Her grandmother had to be strong in dictate to survive.
